Vallalar's Confession: The Reality of Vallalar's Spiritual Compositions For Tamils

 Hello World,

For many years Tamils have been taught that the saint Vallalar was a spiritual leader who had mystical or rather suspicious end and the theory has always promoted him as a non-human who took the human form to write the Thirumurais.

The reality is very different. Vallalar was a spiritual person. No doubt. He promoted the faith system he followed. No doubt on that as well. He was a well versed Tamil poet and specialized in spiritual compositions. Absolutely no doubt on that as well.

However, he joined those in power with the hope of spreading the religion he followed for the benefit of the people. He subscribed to the larger agenda and contributed whole heartedly to that. He realized that his colleagues and peers spreading the faith were changing colours and started displaying ulterior motives that Vallalar did not subscribe to. He was not in a position of power to correct all of them and was also stuck to the agenda as it had its objectives rooted in his spiritual values.

However, vallalar decided to do the right thing and documented his confession and subsequent realistic advice to Tamils on the topic of faith. He did not promote atheism but he documented his view that whatever the religious propaganda promoted to Tamils was not necessarily the real depiction of a god who serves and protects.

Here are some instances from Vallalar's composition (Sixth Thirumurai):

Here is a Pagutharivu Podcast episode discussing the same in Tamil:
